Protect and Teach has written formally to Amnesty International following the publication of its report A Growing Threat: The Anti-Rights Movement in the UK, which included references to our organisation.
In our letter, we explain why we believe Protect and Teach has been inaccurately characterised and express our concern that we were neither contacted nor given an opportunity to respond before publication. We set out our commitment to safeguarding, evidence-informed education and legitimate parental involvement in schools, and explain why we believe the report has caused reputational harm to our organisation.
Our letter requests that Amnesty International:
- issue a public apology;
- remove or substantially amend inaccurate references to Protect and Teach;
- explain the evidence and due diligence relied upon before naming our organisation;
- provide details of its complaints procedure; and
- engage constructively with us to resolve the matter.
Protect and Teach remains committed to respectful dialogue, transparency and evidence-informed discussion on issues affecting children, safeguarding and education. We hope this matter can be resolved constructively and have requested a substantive written response within 14 days.
