What Does Protect and Teach Do? Part Two

·

At Protect and Teach, we believe parents should have access to practical tools, clear guidance and evidence-based information when they have concerns about what is being taught in schools.

In Part Two of this short video, Cathy Mudge explains how our work is expanding beyond a focus only on gender ideology. We are developing practical resources for parents, including template letters, guidance and model responses to help them raise legitimate questions and concerns with schools.

We also look at some important principles:

  • Misogyny and misandry are legitimate issues that should be addressed; but taught in a balanced and evidence-based way.
  • Schools should have a zero-tolerance approach.
  • The Education Act 1996 provides a framework within which schools can discuss important and controversial issues, but these should be approached fairly, objectively and without partisan political promotion.
  • Education should encourage pupils to examine evidence, question claims and consider different perspectives; not present any particular critical theory or ideological framework as an unquestionable truth.

Protect and Teach wants to support parents who are unsure how to raise a concern or simply want to ask their child’s school for clarification.
