4 November 2026 | Protect and Teach CIC
Protect and Teach CIC has today formally submitted written evidence to the Joint Committee scrutinising the Draft Conversion Practices Bill (England and Wales).
This submission follows our extensive research and published analysis of the proposed legislation, including our comprehensive 769-page evidence review and policy analysis.
Our position remains unchanged: we oppose the draft Bill in its present form.
Our concerns centre on the potential consequences for children, parents, teachers, safeguarding professionals and clinicians, particularly where uncertainty about the proposed criminal offence could discourage lawful conversations, independent professional judgement and appropriate therapeutic support.
As public scrutiny of the Bill intensifies, including growing media attention and debate about its potential implications for family life, we believe it is essential that Parliament considers the evidence carefully.
Protecting people from abuse and coercion is vital. But legislation must be necessary, proportionate, clearly defined and capable of protecting vulnerable people without undermining existing safeguarding responsibilities.
Our written evidence is now with the Joint Committee. We will share the published submission once it is released through the parliamentary process.
In the meantime, our existing research and analysis remain publicly available, alongside our regularly updated live tracker.
The Committee’s deadline for written evidence is 5 pm on 16 November 2026. We encourage anyone with relevant evidence or professional experience to consider contributing.
